City Manager's Message

As the City Manager of Vacaville, I feel privileged to work for a very special organization.  One of the hallmarks of the City of Vacaville is pride: employee pride in providing excellence and innovation in customer service, and pride among citizens in the high quality of life they enjoy in Vacaville.

Vacaville residents take pleasure in their community's beautiful setting, where California's broad central valley meets the rolling hills of the Bay Area. Residents enjoy easy access to the recreational and cultural opportunities of San Francisco, the wine country, and Lake Tahoe.

In town, the Vacaville Performing Arts Theater features nationally recognized talent as well as local productions. Recent additions to the community include an ice-skating center, a baseball stadium, a new senior center, and a beautiful downtown creekwalk. Plans to redevelop the historic "Nut Tree" property are currently underway. Vacaville truly has something for everyone.

The City is known for its progressive approach to city services and its strong commitment to meeting its customers' needs. In a survey of Vacaville residents, more than three-fourths rated the City of Vacaville as "excellent" or "good" in providing services to its citizens. Ninety percent of residents who reported recent contacts with City government said that the City employees were courteous and helpful. The City has received numerous awards for its innovation and professionalism, including an award from the California Council on Quality and Service based on nationally recognized Malcolm Baldrige criteria.

Partnerships have been an essential element in making Vacaville a successful organization and an outstanding place to work and live. The community's commitment to its families is reflected in the creation of the Vacaville Youth Roundtable in 1991 and the Senior Roundtable in 2000. Through groups such as these, the City works together with other community organizations to help serve our residents in the most effective way we can.

This website is one more way for the City to reach out to its customers. We are continuing to develop the site and are interested in your feedback. Let us know what you think!
